1. Scope

This policy explains what data specdeviceinfo.com (the website) and DevCheck AI (the Android app distributed on Google Play) process, why, and what control you have. The two products are operated by the same developer and share this policy for clarity.

The device hardware records browsed on this website come from publicly accessible community datasets reported by the devices themselves. They contain only standard hardware fingerprints (model, SoC, sensors, etc.) — never personal identifiers.

2. Website data — specdeviceinfo.com

specdeviceinfo.com is a static informational site. We do not require accounts, do not run server-side forms, and do not store personal data on our servers.

  • Cookies set by us directly: none.
  • Third-party cookies (Google AdSense): the site displays ads served by Google AdSense (publisher ID ca-pub-6917920523634442). Google and its ad partners may set cookies (or use similar identifiers) to serve and personalize ads, frequency-cap them, and measure performance. For EU/EEA/UK/Swiss visitors, a Google Funding Choices consent banner appears on first visit (and again from the link in Section 8) so you can accept, reject, or customize this. Outside those regions you can opt out of personalized ads at adssettings.google.com.
  • Analytics (Google Analytics 4): we use Google Analytics (measurement ID G-W4M0RDHXN3) to understand aggregate traffic — page views, referrer, country, device category, session duration. GA4 sets first-party cookies (e.g. _ga) to distinguish anonymous sessions; IP addresses are truncated by Google before storage and not shared with us. We do not collect names, emails, or any directly identifying information through analytics. EU/EEA/UK/Swiss visitors can decline analytics via the consent banner (see Section 8). You can also install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
  • Hosting logs: our hosting provider (Hostinger) maintains standard access logs (IP, user-agent, requested URL, timestamp) for fraud prevention and uptime. These are not used for advertising.
  • Outbound links: some pages link to Google Play, YouTube, or other third-party services. Their own privacy policies apply once you leave this site.

Google's full privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy. How Google uses information from sites that use its services: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

3. App: data processed on your device (never uploaded)

DevCheck AI reads the following exclusively through public Android APIs and the /proc filesystem. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly trigger an AI analysis (see Section 4):

  • Device hardware specs — model, brand, Android version, CPU, GPU, RAM
  • Real-time performance metrics — CPU usage, memory usage, storage, network speed, battery level / temperature
  • Sensor readings — accelerometer, gyroscope, light, proximity, temperature
  • Display information — resolution, refresh rate, DPI

4. App: AI processing (only on your explicit tap)

When you tap "Analyze" inside the app, the following anonymized metrics are sent to Anthropic's Claude API for inference:

  • CPU / memory / storage / battery usage percentages
  • Battery temperature
  • Generic device model name (e.g., "Pixel 8")

We do not send: IMEI, IP address (beyond standard TLS routing), location, account info, contacts, photos, or any personally identifiable information.

You can disable AI features entirely in Settings → AI Enabled. If you bring your own Claude API key (BYOK), it is stored only in local Android SharedPreferences and is never transmitted to us (we operate no servers).

5. App: advertising (Google AdMob)

The free tier of DevCheck AI displays ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect:

  • Advertising ID (AAID) — used for ad personalization. You can reset or opt out at any time via Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.
  • Approximate location (derived from IP)
  • App interaction events
  • Device information

For EU/EEA/UK users, Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent dialog runs before any ads are requested. You can re-open this dialog at any time from Settings → Privacy Options.

Premium users (in-app purchase, when available) skip all ad code paths entirely.

Google's full privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.

6. Data sharing

We do not sell your data. Limited sharing only with:

  • Anthropic (Claude API) — anonymized performance metrics, only when you trigger an AI analysis (app).
  • Google AdMob — standard ad-serving data inside the app, governed by Google's policy and your AdMob/UMP consent settings.
  • Google AdSense — standard ad-serving data on this website, governed by Google's policy and your Funding Choices consent (EU/EEA/UK/Swiss) or your ad-settings opt-out (other regions).
  • Google Analytics 4 — anonymous traffic statistics for this website, governed by Google's policy.
  • GitHub / Giscus (comments) — our community page at /discussions/ and other pages with a comment thread are powered by Giscus on top of GitHub Discussions. If you choose to post, your GitHub username, avatar, and comment text become publicly visible on both this website and the linked GitHub repository, and are governed by GitHub's privacy statement. Simply viewing the comment widget loads resources from giscus.app and GitHub, which may set their own functional cookies. You can request deletion of your comments at any time by emailing us.

7. Data retention

  • On-device data: stays on your device until you uninstall the app.
  • AI analysis cache: stored locally and discarded after a short window (currently ~5 minutes per response).
  • Our servers: we run none, so we retain nothing.

8. Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)

You can at any time:

  • Website — re-open the consent (Funding Choices) dialog: use the link to revoke or change your ad-personalization choices for this site. (EU/EEA/UK/Swiss visitors only — the link is a no-op in other regions, where Google does not require a consent banner.)
  • Disable AI analysis — Settings → AI Enabled (app).
  • Disable the floating overlay — Settings → Floating Window (app).
  • Reset your Advertising ID — Android system Settings → Privacy → Ads.
  • Re-open the in-app consent (UMP) dialog — Settings → Privacy Options (app).
  • Uninstall the app at any time to remove all local data.

For formal data-subject requests (access, deletion, rectification, portability) under GDPR or CCPA, email us at the address below. We respond within statutory deadlines.

9. Children's privacy

Neither the website nor the app is directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided data to us, contact us so we can delete it.

10. Security

  • All API calls use HTTPS (TLS 1.2+).
  • Optional TLS certificate pinning against Amazon Root CAs is built into the app.
  • API keys (BYOK) are stored only in Android per-app SharedPreferences (sandboxed).
  • No credentials are hardcoded in shipped binaries; built-in keys are double-XOR obfuscated and gated by runtime integrity checks (debug/root/emulator/signature).

11. Changes

We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
